Unmanned aircraft system "Talisman"

In June 2021, the SkyTorez Limited Liability Company presented a prototype of the Talisman UAS, developed and manufactured in the course of development work.

Unmanned aircraft system "Talisman"

The unmanned aircraft system "Talisman" is intended for use in the national economy and in the field of special purposes.
The unmanned aircraft system "Talisman" differs from other similar complexes based on a flying wing aircraft by its possibility of vertical take-off and landing.
At the SkyTorez LLC enterprise, the main elements of the unmanned aircraft system are manufactured, such as:
- glider;
- folding propeller with two blades;
- ground control station in a dust and moisture resistant case with a sun visor;
- on-board and ground-based equipment information command radio link;
- mechanical catapult;
- target biaxial gyro-stabilized loads with video, infrared, photo and multispectral cameras.

The total weight of the unmanned aircraft system "Talisman" with two aircraft and ground equipment, which ensures the operation of the complex, is no more than 60 kg.
The radius of use of an unmanned aerial vehicle is at least 35 km (up to 70 km).
The accuracy of determining the coordinates of objects is no worse than 50 m.
Deployment time - 15 min.

Unmanned aerial vehicle "Talisman"

The unmanned aircraft system includes one or several unmanned aerial vehicles of the "flying wing" type with removable consoles. The construction of the unmanned aerial vehicle allows for its transformation using removable elements from the version of the standard aerodynamic configuration "flying wing" to the version of the aircraft with vertical take-off and landing.

Standard aerodynamic configuration "flying wing"

Vertical take-off and landing

If the priority indicator is the duration of the flight, then the unmanned aerial vehicle is launched from a mechanical catapult and landing is carried out by parachute.
A variant of the aircraft with vertical take-off and landing, used in the case of significantly limited take-off and landing areas.
The transformation time of an unmanned aerial vehicle from one version to another doesn’t exceed 40 minutes.

An unmanned aerial vehicle includes the following equipment:
- flight and navigation complex with satellite and inertial navigation systems;
- air signal system;
- on-board information command radio link equipment;
- capture and tracking system;
- parachute system;
- directional camera;
- onboard aeronautical lights;
- search beacon.

The main tactical and technical characteristics of the unmanned aerial vehicle "Talisman"
(flying wing / aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing)

Maximum flight duration up to 3.5 h / up to 1.5 h
Flight speed range 70-120 km/h / 0-120 km/h
Maximum flight height 5000 m
Maximum takeoff weight 15 kg
Unmanned aerial vehicle wingspan 3.2 m
Takeoff catapult / vertical
Landing parachute / vertical (parachute)
Maximum wind speed 10 m/s
Minimum take-off area 100х100 m / 20х20 m
Minimum landing area 50х50 m / 20х20 m

Unmanned aerial vehicle ground controls

The aircraft is controlled using a laptop with special software, which is part of the ground control station or ground control point.

Ground control station

The ground control station is based on a laptop housed in a dust and moisture resistant case with a sun visor and an autonomous power supply system.

Ground control point

The ground control station is based on a car of the "passenger car" type, equipped with workstations for operators of an unmanned aerial vehicle, information display facilities, an autonomous power supply system, and a telescopic mast.
In the ground control room, it is possible to transport the set and calculate the unmanned hardware complex.

Protective tent

Protective tent

The ground control center can be additionally equipped with a moisture-proof tent to protect the crew and elements of the unmanned aircraft complex from precipitation during the preparation of the unmanned craft complex for use. The tent can be adapted to any vehicle.
The useful area of the tent is 25 square meters, the height is 2.5 meters, and the weight is 5 kg.

Information and command radio link

The ground equipment of the information command radio link includes a radio control and telemetry channel, a data radio channel and a rotary tracking device. It can be installed both on a telescopic mast (free-standing or mounted on a ground control station), and on any tripod.

Information and command radio link

Connection to the ground control station (ground control point) is carried out using one cable, which combines the functions of data transmission and power supply of equipment.

Starting device

The design of the unmanned aerial vehicle allows it to be launched using either a mechanical or an elastic catapult.

Mechanical catapult

Mechanical catapult

Dimensions
- transport condition 330 х 240 х 3000 mm
- working condition 985 х 1230 х 3000 mm
Weight 11 kg
Unfolding time 3 min.

Elastic catapult

Weight 2,5 kg
Unfolding time 1 min.

Target load set

The basic set of the unmanned aircraft system includes interchangeable optoelectronic target loads.
The optical module is installed on a gyro-stabilized platform that provides a 360° view of the entire lower hemisphere (endless rotation).

Target load set

Video camera

In the manufacture of the target load, optical modules with PAL/HD/4K resolution and optical zoom up to 36x are used. The weight of the target load, installed on a two-axis gyro-stabilized platform, does not exceed 1 kg.

Thermal imager + ultrasensitive camera

In the manufacture of the target load, thermal imaging modules with a resolution of 640x480 and higher, with a frequency of up to 50 Hz, as well as ultrasensitive optical modules are used. The weight of the target load, installed on a two-axis gyro-stabilized platform, does not exceed 1.5 kg.

Cameras

Camera Multispectral camera

In the manufacture of the target load, standard commercial cameras and multispectral cameras are used, which have been upgraded for use as part of a UAV. The installation of target loads on the UAV is performed using a fixed or gyro-stabilized platform.

FPV camera

FPV camera is an uncontrolled optical module with a resolution not worse than HD, rigidly installed in the center section or in the UAV wing console.
